Entry ONE of TWO
This is the first of two entries today. Yeah, I'm feeling spunky like that. Dharma and Greg last night was pretty cool! Even though it was a re-run. Dharma & Greg took in thier local grocery store clerk, because she was single, pregnant, and wasn't planning on keeping the baby. Dharma & Greg wanted to adopt it. So, it comes time & the chick goes into labor. Greg comes home as Dharma is helping her up to the bedroom, and Greg is like, "Okay, nobody panic. We'll grab her stuff, and get to the hospital!!" Dharma said, "Why?? She's not sick!" Greg was dumbfounded, "But, that's what hospitals are for! We have to get her to the hospital!" Dharma said, "Call Abby (her Mom) she's a midwife." So Dharma's Mom comes over & starts assisting with the birth. Greg's parents drop by, and his Mom Kittie is all, "Why aren't you taking her to the hospital?" And Dharma's Mom says, "Why?? She isn't sick!" The bring the laboring woman back downstairs and head into the bathroom. "What are they doing NOW?" yells Greg's Mom. "She's having the baby in the bathtub," says Dharma. They were all just really astounded that they weren't taking the lady to the hospital. I just thought that was really cool! I mean, showing different aspects of birth on t.v. instead of always showing the 'routine' way of the woman in seething pain, laying missionary style on a hospital bed, as she's being injected with drugs & tons of nursing staff swarming around her. I know a lot of people have thier own way of birthing - or what they feel is the 'right' way (or only) to birth. I love the diversity. I honestly never studied any other methods of birthing while I was pregnant with Zoey. As I said before, the way I knew it was so very routine. You check into the hospital, they lay you down, hook you up to the IV & Pit drips, and you LAY there laboring - not knowing what in the hell is going on. (or at least I didn't) And breastfeeding. That's another thing I really didn't even look into. Didn't bother to. And I have no idea why! I just did things so routinely. So unnaturally - that it really didn't even bother me 'till recently. I think that is why I'm so interested in Aisling's birth and Mia's too!!! Anyway - I'm going to do my little survey now.
